Who is Whincup Self-Storage?
Whincup Self Storage is a modern self-storage facility based in North Yorkshire, offering secure storage solutions. With a range of unit sizes and easy access, the facility provides convenient spaces for storing furniture, business stock, equipment and personal belongings.
-
The Challenge
As part of the development of its new storage facility, Whincup Self Storage required a reliable goods lift to provide access to its new mezzanine storage area. As the facility would be used for storing a variety of items, the platform needed to provide additional protection against loads extending beyond the lifting area during operation.
The lift needed to be supplied and installed within a tight timeframe to ensure the site was fully operational before customers began using the storage units. Due to restricted site access, the lift also had to be designed in smaller sections to allow it to pass through a 1700mm wide doorway before final assembly.
-
The Solution
Advanced Handling designed and installed a heavy-duty goods lift with 1000kg capacity specifically suited to the requirements of Whincup Self Storage. The goods lift was positioned against the edge of the mezzanine level to maximise storage space and designed with a fully enclosed platform, taller internal gates and solid steel cladding to create a secure loading area suitable for transporting customers’ belongings.
To overcome the site’s access restrictions, the goods lift was manufactured in modular sections, enabling it to be transported through a narrow doorway and assembled on-site. Cross bracing was added to maintain the structural strength and rigidity of the completed installation.
-
The Benefits
The installation of the heavy-duty goods lift has provided Whincup Self Storage with a safe and efficient way to move heavy and bulky items between floors, allowing customers to easily access the additional storage space on the mezzanine level. With space saving concertina doors and a compact installation footprint, the lift maximises available storage space while providing a reliable solution suited to the demands of a busy self-storage environment.
